At this time of national reflection, we come together to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all those who have given so much in defence of our freedoms.
On Sunday, I was privileged to attend the Remembrance service in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Joined by veterans, serving members of our Armed Forces, local organisations, faith and community leaders, and residents from across the borough, we gathered to remember the fallen and to pay tribute to all who have served and continue to serve our country.
This morning, as the nation marks Armistice Day, we pause once again to reflect on the enormous debt we owe. We remember those who never returned home, those who returned changed forever, and the families and communities who bore the weight of their sacrifice. We also thank all who serve today in our Armed Forces and those who support them.
Their bravery and commitment remind us of the values we cherish – peace, democracy, and freedom – and of our duty to protect them for future generations.
We will remember them.
