Celebrating UK Parliament Week 2025 in Newcastle-under-Lyme

ree

UK Parliament Week is taking place from 24–30 November, and I’m inviting everyone across the constituency to get involved. It’s an opportunity for people of all ages to find out more about how Parliament works, how decisions are made and how each one of us can participate.

This year, 44 organisations across Newcastle-under-Lyme have signed up so far. Schools, youth groups and community organisations will be using their free UKPW resource kits to host workshops, games and discussion sessions that explore Parliament’s role, how it touches our everyday lives and how you can have your say.

One of the highlights this year is the 10-year anniversary of the UK Government and Parliament e-petitions website. For a decade, that platform has opened up new ways for people to raise issues, challenge ideas and help shape government decisions. It’s a powerful reminder that democracy isn’t just about what happens in Westminster – it’s about what happens in our community, and how your voice can matter.

I firmly believe that learning about how Parliament works doesn’t have to feel distant. Whether you’re in primary school, secondary school, a youth group or an adult community organisation – this is your chance to ask questions, explore ideas and understand how you can get involved. From a classroom debate to signing a petition or simply talking to friends and neighbours about the issues that matter, your participation counts.

If you’re running an event during UK Parliament Week in Newcastle-under-Lyme, I’d love to hear about it. Please contact my office or tag me on social media so we can help promote your activity and thank everyone organising and taking part.

Thank you to all the schools, community groups, youth workers and volunteers who are making this happen across the constituency.
