Fighting for Better Bus Services in Newcastle-under-Lyme

A well-connected transport system is vital — for our local economy, for our health and wellbeing, and for building pride in our communities. But right now, too many people across Newcastle-under-Lyme are being let down by unreliable or non-existent local bus services.
Whether it’s difficulty accessing shops, missed medical appointments, or young people losing out on opportunities — across Betley, Audley, Wolstanton and beyond, the message is clear: we need better.
In the House of Commons, I raised this issue directly with the Minister and invited him to Newcastle-under-Lyme to see for himself the impact of this broken system.
Staffordshire County Council is set to receive £11.1 million in bus funding next year — including £5.8 million in revenue funding and £5.3 million in capital funding. That’s money meant to support and improve bus services and infrastructure across our county, including here in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
This funding must be used properly. I’ll be holding the Council to account and continuing to work with local people to ensure that our communities get the bus services they deserve.
If you’ve been affected by a lack of bus services where you live, I want to hear from you. Please get in touch.
