Update: A500 Audley Slip Road

I have campaigned hard on road safety right across Newcastle-under-Lyme and I'll be bringing my Road Safety Bill to Parliament on the first day back after recess.

Although being our MP means I don’t have operational powers, I have the power of my voice, and yours too, and I won’t stop speaking out and demanding a final resolution to this major safety issue for residents and commuters alike.

In recent months, I have continued to hold Staffordshire County Council and National Highways to account and while National Highways is following through with their commitments by commencing works to upgrade the signage on the slip road, despite facing unexpected delays; I have today received a disappointing response to my most recent call for answers and action from Staffordshire County Council.

Thank you for your correspondence regarding the A500 Slip Road junction on Alsager Road, Audley.

I can confirm that the County Council's scheme design work is continuing to progress. At present, however, there is no further update available regarding timescales for any implementation.

In relation to National Highways' proposals at this location, whilst we do not hold any details of their programme, we understand that works may have now commenced on site. Should you require any further information on the scope or timing of those works, National Highways would be best placed to provide an update directly.
