Alsagers Bank Primary Academy, Churchfields Primary School and Our Lady and St Werburgh’s Catholic Primary School are amongst the 813 schools receiving funding across the country.

I am delighted to share the fantastic news that three of our local schools are being given the resources they need to thrive.

Following the Department for Education's (DfE) announcement of the successful schools list – and with confirmation from Education Minister, Josh MacAlister OBE MP – I am delighted that three schools right here in Newcastle-under-Lyme have successfully secured investment through the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) for the 2026 to 2027 programme. This is part of a wider £450 million package designed to ensure that school buildings are safe and well-maintained.

These funds will go directly toward infrastructure and maintenance projects, ensuring our students and teachers can work in the high-quality environments they deserve. Alsagers Bank Primary Academy and Churchfields Primary School are receiving funding for Urgent Safeguarding Works, and Our Lady and St Werburgh's Catholic Primary School is receiving funding for Fire Safety and Compliance.

Nationally, this funding cycle was incredibly competitive, with over 2,500 applications submitted from across the country. I am proud that our local schools were among the 813 projects selected for funding.
