This International Women’s Day, I was honoured to join SI North Staffordshire in celebrating the achievements of women whose contributions have too often been overlooked. This year, their focus was on ‘Women Forgotten’—a theme that resonated deeply, as we reflected on the remarkable contributions of women across our community whose names may not be widely known but whose impact is undeniable.

The event was a powerful reminder that history is full of extraordinary women whose stories deserve recognition. Whether in our local community or beyond, women have shaped the world around us in ways that often go unrecorded.

International Women’s Day is not just about celebrating progress—it’s about making sure women’s voices, past and present, are heard. I’m grateful to SI North Staffordshire for leading this important conversation and for their ongoing work empowering women across our area.
