I presented a petition in the House of Commons calling for the removal of Site Allocation AB2 from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council's Local Plan.
Last night, on a very hot day down in Parliament, I presented a petition to the House of Commons calling for site allocation AB2, up in Audley, to be scrapped from the Council's Local Plan.
The petition was backed by more than 800 signatures from local residents and it’s important that residents are heard loudly and clearly.
AB2 covers green belt land southeast of Junction 16 of the M6. Releasing it for development would mean losing 6% of Audley Parish's green belt – and with it, the rural character that makes this part of our community what it is.
I've heard from so many residents about the impact this proposal could have – more traffic, increased noise and light pollution, and the loss of natural habitat for wildlife.
I will continue to push the Borough Council to listen to local people – and actually hear us.
