TWO Ministerial Visits in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Education Minister Olivia Bailey MP and DWP Minister Andrew Western MP both came to Newcastle-under-Lyme on Thursday (2 July 2026)
On Thursday, we had two ministerial visits in one day here in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
In the morning, I welcomed Olivia Bailey MP, Minister for Early Education, to the Best Start Family Hub in Knutton, where we heard from those on the ground delivering vital early intervention support, as we revive the legacy of Sure Start for local families.
In the afternoon, I welcomed Andrew Western MP, the Transformation Minister at the DWP, for an important conversation at the Job Centre about supporting young people who are out of work into employment. We also spent time with North Staffordshire Citizens Advice Bureau in Keele, hearing directly from young people about the challenges they face when trying to navigate financial independence for the first time.
Visits like this are incredibly important in helping Ministers understand the real-life experiences of the people and organisations making a difference every day, and I was keen to ensure their voices were heard by the Ministers, so their perspectives can be taken right to the heart of government.
